Presbytere - The Louisiana State Museum
Celebrate Mardi Gras year-round at the Louisiana State Museum- Presbytere. This historic building was originally intended to house the priests of the neighboring St. Louis Cathedral but was never actually used for that purpose. It currently houses the exciting exhibit “Mardi Gras: It’s Carnival Time in Louisiana.” This colorful exhibit covers everything Mardi Gras from masking to society balls to family traditions and rural customs. This dynamic interactive exhibit allows visitors to “ride” a Mardi Gras float, see interviews with legendary characters, and more. Children can even try on costumes for photographs.
