Honolulu Museum of Art
The Contemporary Museum recently gifted its collection and assets to the Honolulu Academy of Arts, merging the two museums and forming a new world-class art museum known as the Honolulu Museum of Art. One of the world’s premier art museums, it houses a recognized collection of more than 50,000 works spanning 5,000 years, including van Gogh, Picasso, Warhol, Monet, Gauguin and Hokusai, as well as traditional Hawaiian and Asian art. Now a single admission price allows you entry into both the Honolulu Museum of Art and the Spalding House (formerly The Contemporary Museum location).
At the Honolulu Museum of Art, you will feel transported to different places and times as you stroll through the museum’s more than 30 galleries, surrounded by exotic sculptures and gardens with waterfalls, a 70-year old monkey pod tree and the Japanese garden’s lily pad pond.
At the Spalding House, just minutes from downtown Honolulu and boasting spectacular views of Diamond Head and Waikiki, you will immerse yourself in stunning collections of modern art dating from 1940. Located on the 3.5 acre Alice Cooke Spalding home and estate, built in 1925, beautifully sculptured gardens and breathtaking exhibits await you.
